WCC and AWS power Malaysia’s fastest-growing job portal
Utrecht – NL, 12-09-2023. WCC Group is proud to announce the official Go-Live of the WCC Amazon Web Services (AWS) Outposts project in Malaysia, further strengthening our relationship with Malaysia’s Public Employment Service – PERKESO and its MyFutureJobs portal.
PERKESO was established in 1971 to implement and administer social security schemes. It aims to provide comprehensive social protection for workers who find themselves unable to work through injury, invalidity, or loss of employment. Its vision is to provide a premium service that assists Malaysia’s jobseekers in finding sustainable employment as quickly as possible.
The challenge
Malaysia, like many other countries, has suffered from a widening gap developing between demand and labor supply. This can be attributed to long-term unemployment, low education & skills, and youth unemployment. Additionally, more than half of jobs in Malaysia could be affected by automation in the next two decades. Technological development may make many current skills obsolete.
Youth unemployment is at an all-time high of 10.7% in Malaysia. Multiple factors have contributed, including market uncertainties resulting from the pandemic and an overall skills mismatch. School leavers and graduates fail to meet the needs of employers. Targeted actions and reliable market data and analyses are needed to formulate interventions to resolve these and other problems. PERKESO recognized that in order to support employers and government agencies successfully, it must close gaps in this information.
The solution
WCC’s customizable Employment Platform Portals provide excellent job brokerage capability, helping Public Employment services to match demand and labor supply. It also enhances labor market information from jobseekers, employers, and vacancy data. This uncovers skills gaps, allowing governments to make the right investments in reskilling and training.
Having AWS Outposts installed in two strategic data centers, PERKESO now benefits from a more stable environment for its MyFutureJobs application, allowing it to reach its ambitious strategic goals for the next years. In addition, the continuous development of MyFutureJobs by WCC has improved significantly by utilizing automated test scripts and automated deployments which enabling IT and developers to accelerate the innovation cycle of MyFuturejobs much faster.
The next five years with WCC Managed Services
After a well-received pilot phase, the need for a fully managed environment that can anticipate and mitigate problems became clear. Going forward, WCC will manage all of the MYFutureJobs services. When one party has a view of the whole environment, it can proactively monitor and solve any potential issues that might cause downtime. The robust nature of the AWS Outposts technology stack will boost user confidence, allowing usage to continue its fast upward trajectory.
