WCC partners with the The Gambia to deploy its HERA eCRVS solution
Utrecht – NL, August 18, 2022. WCC delivers its eCRVS solution to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of The Gambia.
WCC is proud to announce that our Civil Registration and Vital Statistics solution HERA is live in The Gambia. The Gambia, through the Ministry of Health, has rolled out a new electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (eCRVS) System and a National Health Insurance Scheme as part of ongoing efforts to make healthcare accessible and affordable to all Gambians.
The Gambia’s President Adama Barrow has called upon Gambians and residents to register for the newly introduced birth certificate and Health Insurance Scheme after successfully registering into the new electronic systems at the State House in Banjul.
WCC is extremely happy to work closely together with the World Bank on this project. The World Bank financed The Gambia Essential Health Services Strengthening Project and is supporting the rollout of The Gambia Mass Birth Registration and Health Insurance Membership Registration.
An electronic CRVS system provides civilians with the foundation for a legal identity and allows the government to make more informed decisions using reliable and timely data on vital events like births and deaths. Vital events comprise – among many more – live births, deaths, marriages and divorces. Obtaining a legal identity is crucial as it gives access to fundamental human rights such as education, healthcare, and social protection, and provides the evidence needed for such important occasions as graduating, voting, inheriting, and obtaining a passport.
WCC’s HERA is used to provide all eligible citizens in The Gambia with a printed birth certificate as well as a personalized Health Insurance card.
